On Thursday, September 15th, 2005, the Alberta North chapter of the Graphic Designers of Canada hosted Dan Ibarra and Michael Byzewski of Aesthetic Apparatus. They shared their super design secrets and now you to can watch their presentation.

Aesthetic Apparatus is a two-man Minneapolis design/print studio that is run by non-biological twins Michael Byzewski and Dan Ibarra. Aesthetic Apparatus took seed when the duo first met in 1998 when they were both designers at Planet Propaganda (formerly Planet Design Company) in Madison, Wisconsin.

Combining their mutual interest in printmaking and music the two began to build a groundwork of limited edition hand-printed concert posters that would gain enough recognition nationally and internationally to convince them in 2002 to uproot to the twin cities and turn their measly late-night beer-fueled hobby into a full-time studio. Still a functioning 2-person firm, Ibarra and Byzewski daily walk a fine line between design and fine art by stubbornly still hand printing all their own limited edition print and poster work, while working on projects with clients such as MTV2, Criterion Collection and Blue Q to national bands such as The New Pornographers, The Hold Steady, Frank Black and local favorites Low, Belles of Skin City and The Deaths. Their work has been featured in Communication Arts, Creative Review, HOW, Print, Rolling Stone, Jane Magazine, Readymade Magazine and the recent Chronicle Books rock art bible "The Art of Modern Rock."
